What is an underground pimple?
An underground pimple, also known as a blind pimple, is actually acne that has developed beneath the skin’s surface. It isn’t really noticeable on the surface of your skin, but if you rub your finger against your skin, you will feel a little bump or lump under the skin.
It is a pimple without a head. This type of acne develops from a combination of sebum (oil), bacteria, and dirt that becomes trapped in your pore. The end result is a painful lump under your skin that doesn’t have a “head” like other pimples might have.
They are hard to get rid of, but nothing a little patience and care can’t treat.
How to get rid of it?
1. DO NOT squeeze and pop
As these pimples aren’t at the skin’s surface, they’re more difficult to pop. Trying to squeeze out the pimple will make the inflammation worse, making the pimple more noticeable from increased redness and marks on the skin and can also cause scarring.
2. Apply a warm compress
This can help ease pain from the acne, and it is also very helpful once a whitehead begins to form. Apply the warm compress 10 to 15 minutes three to four times a day so that the pimple releases the pus and can start to heal.
Simply soak a clean washcloth in hot water and apply it to the affected areas.
3. Wear an acne sticker
Acne stickers act as a bandage that you place directly over the blind pimple to remove bacteria, sebum, and dirt. Acne stickers contain salicylic acid which is an acne-fighting agent.
Acne stickers can be easily found at your nearest Watson’s or any other pharmacy. Wear it daily until the pimple is gone. Make sure you change it every 24 hours!
4. Apply tea tree oil
Tea tree oil is a natural alternative to harsh antibiotics and over the counter (OTC) chemicals. You’ll need to use a product that has at least 5 percent tea tree oil for it to work effectively. Apply twice a day until the blind pimple heals completely.
Pure tea tree must be diluted before using. To do this, mix one part tea tree oil with one part carrier oil like coconut, jojoba, or olive oil. Then, apply to the affected area and leave on overnight. Rinse the area in the morning.
5. Apply raw honey
Raw honey, another natural alternative! Honey has natural antimicrobial properties that help get rid of bacteria.
To use this remedy, you will need raw honey, not honey you get at the grocery store. Apply a small amount to the affected area and leave on overnight. Rinse it off in the morning.
