Residents in Pasir Mas and Tumpat districts are bracing for water supply disruptions during the upcoming Raya season. The anticipated shortage stems from a decrease in water supply at the Kelar Water Treatment Plant (LRA) caused by drought-induced reductions in the Kelar River's water levels.
Air Kelantan Sdn Bhd (AKSB) disclosed via a Facebook post on Saturday that approximately 48,635 account holders will be affected by the supply disruption. Pasir Mas areas such as Meranti, Kelar, Lemal, Gual Tinggi, Lubok Jong, and the entire Tumpat area are among those expected to face water shortages.
Maintenance work is underway to address the issue, with completion expected by April 15th. The completion timeline is, however, subject to change based on the current water level conditions at the Kelar River.
In response to the impending shortages, AKSB has announced plans to mitigate the impact by providing water delivery services via tanker trucks and static tanks to affected residents.
