Malaysians Slam Selfish Drivers At Fuel Pump Bays, Causing Long Queues

A road user's account of a frustrating incident that purportedly occurred at a local petrol station recently piqued Malaysians' interest, with many claiming to have experienced a similar circumstance.

Shima Chym's Facebook post went viral recently, with almost 6,900 responses and more than 2,400 comments as of the time of posting.

Park at the petrol pump bay and then go shopping at the convenience store

In the post, she described how a couple driving a white Perodua Ativa in front of her allegedly caused a significant backlog at the petrol station by parking their vehicle at the fuel pump bay for an extended period of time while the lady went shopping inside the station's convenience store.

Shima further stated that selfish automobile owners were to blame for other people's tardiness.

"The husband instructed the wife to pay at the counter. She then went shopping inside the convenience store and did not pay for petrol.

"The spouse then had to enter the store to make a purchase. Upon refueling, his spouse waited inside the vehicle at the pump bay because the wife had not left the store. "Stupid species", she added.

Malaysians connected with the story on such inconsiderate drivers and recounted their own encounters in the comment section.

Malaysians unite in the comments area of the post to call out the driver and other vehicle owners who do the same, stating that such actions are extremely selfish and cause inconvenience for others.

One commentator clarified that the fuel pump area is for refilling, not parking. As a result, after you've refueled your vehicle, you should move it immediately and park someplace else if you intend to purchase at the convenience store.

At the same time, another user stated that this happened to him frequently, and in such cases, he would tap on the vehicle's mirrors and ask the driver to leave.

Aside from that, one jokester suggested that if you're in a similar circumstance, go to the petrol station counter and use the microphone there to summon the driver.

According to one Malaysian who used to work at a petrol station, these incidents occur more frequently than one might think, as he has seen vehicle owners park at the fuel pump bay and then go to the ATM to withdraw money, shop for snacks, and even order food that took a long time to prepare, such as waffles.
