Based on recent reports, an influencer couple was detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) yesterday, for possible counts of misusing public donations.
The couple was taken into custody around 6.40pm at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya to give a statement to the authorities. During said operation, the MACC also seized the couple’s laptop and phones.
According to the reliable source, a search was also conducted in the couple’s residence earlier in the day.
Today at 9am, they were presented at the Putrajaya Magistrate’s Court for a remand hearing.
The case has since garnered the attention of the online public, via social media platforms. Many accused them of taking excessively high commission from the collected public donations.
Onlookers pointed out that it was their lavish lifestyle, which sparked suspicion and raised numerous questions. On top of that, was the added accusation of failing to audit the donation funds, and not providing evidence to show that the collected donations actually reached the intended recipients.
