The Movement Control Order (MCO) has come to the sixth day. It could be seen that the crowd at Pasar Air Itam has significantly reduced, meanwhile, there were 50 authorities from Penang City Hall and policemen present to monitor the crowd as well.
Normally, Pasar Air Itam would be flooded with people starting from 7.00 am to 8.30 am. However, according to the report by Sin Chew Daily, the market seemed deserted, where the crowd and vehicles were reduced and the market was not full of people as usual.
Another detail reported was that the Penang City Hall has drawn yellow lines on the floor, indicating the social distancing for people to follow. Authorities from Air Itam local council too present at the entrance of the market to provide hand sanitizer to people who wished to enter the market.
State Assemblyman For Air Itam Constituency, Ng Soon Siang, too mentioned in the report that the market has 9 entrances in total, in order to control the crowd, the authority will close 7 entrances, leaving only 2 front doors and 1 back door from today onward.
