If you identify as a gamer and currently not living in Japan, we're sorry to tell you but you're missing out BIG TIME.
Located in one of Japan's trendiest cities, Shibuya, one eccentric high school institution has recently welcomed its students; one specifically named Esports High School (Esports Koutou Gakuin (eスポーツ高等学院). It's the first educational institution ever of its kind in Japan to offer a video gaming curriculum, along with the standard Japanese high school curriculum. Jealous, yet?

This school is reportedly equipped with 40 Galleria XA7C-R37 gaming PCs with an Intel Core i7-11700 powered with Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 graphics cards, among other perks and amenities. The board of teachers consists of field professionals as well as pro eSports players, Kotaku reports.
What's even more interesting about this school is its "Care Training Space" facility, which exposes its students to the proper ways of maintaining and managing their physical and mental health, two aspects that are usually overlooked among pro gamers who are constantly exposed to a demanding and competitive environment.
If you're wondering, "Can these kids make a living off of playing video games?", Esports High School does not necessarily advertise itself as a "gaming high school" but instead as an institution that teaches modern software skills relating to high-demand modern careers currently, such as video game developers, software programmers, game journalists, etc.
The representative of the school stated, "Pro gaming, as an occupation, is very difficult, and so our goal is to provide students with skills that can be used not just in competitive gaming, but in a variety of ways." as reported by Japan Today.
The enrollment cost of this school has not been revealed, although you can go check out the school's official website here, which, as you might have guessed, is designed à la video game.
