A heartfelt video has emerged on social media, featuring a food delivery rider determined to make ends meet despite facing adversity.
In the video, the delivery rider can be seen walking with his food delivery bag, wearing his helmet under the sun. His resolve to continue working is admirable, especially given the circumstances that led to this unusual sight.
It appears that the rider's motorcycle was seized by the JPJ in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, preventing him from completing his deliveries. The video was shared on TikTok by the user @kikkycoco, who happened to be present during the incident when enforcement officers were inspecting vehicles.
The video quickly went viral, amassing over 5.2 million views and gaining support from various netizens who empathized with the rider's plight.
"Is working for Grab or Foodpanda considered degrading? It's so heartbreaking; the man is just trying to make a living. May everything be made easy for him," he wrote, echoing the sentiments of many who viewed the video.
However, the authorities has stepped forward to rectify the situation.
As per their clarification, the rider's license had lapsed, and additionally, he lacked insurance coverage. To prevent potential complications down the road, the authorities deemed it necessary to confiscate his vehicle.
Notably, The Road Transport Department (JPJ) takes strict action against riders found in violation of road traffic regulations under Section 64 of the Road Transport Act 1987, including offenses such as driving without a license, expired Motor Vehicle License (LKM), and reckless motorcycle riding, as emphasized by JPJ's Deputy Director-General (Planning and Operations), Aedy Fadly Ramli.
