TW: Distressing theme
A devastating incident on the East Coast Expressway Two (LPT2) near Bukit Besi resulted in the unfortunate death of a seven-month-old baby boy named Mohammad Adam Rayyan Abdul Rahim. The incident occurred yesterday evening when a four-wheel drive vehicle, driven by Mohammad Taufik Babge, 34, veered off track, crashing through the road barrier at Kilometer 372.
Superintendent Maizura Abdul Kadir, the Dungun District Police Chief, confirmed the heartbreaking news that Mohammad Adam Rayyan was pronounced dead at Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ) in Kuala Terengganu around 12:25 noon today while receiving medical treatment.
The vehicle carried Mohammad Taufik, his wife Hamizah Mustapha, aged 35, and two other passengers, Nik Muhammad Ariff Al-Iman Nik Mohd Azmi, 20, and Faresh Rayyan Abdul Rahim, 11. They were all believed to be traveling from Kota Bharu back to Pengerang, Johor.
According to Maizura, the vehicle lost control after hitting a water puddle, subsequently skidding off the road and colliding with the highway barrier at high speed. The impact led the vehicle to fall onto a water-filled embankment.
Fortunately, other expressway users passing by the area rescued all victims from the vehicle. Mohammad Taufik sustained leg injuries, Hamizah suffered minor injuries to her legs and chest, while Nik Muhammad Ariff Al-Iman and Faresh Rayyan sustained chest injuries.
All injured individuals were promptly transported to Hulu Terengganu Hospital for further medical attention. Sadly, despite efforts, Mohammad Adam Rayyan succumbed to his injuries while being treated at HSNZ.
Videos of the incident went viral on social media, showing passersby attempting to perform CPR to Mohammad Adam Rayyan.
