A YouTube couple from the United Kingdom, Chris and Marianne Fisher recently encountered an unsettling incident with Malaysian law enforcement during their travels, which they uploaded on their channel. The couple, known for their popular channel 'TREAD the globe,' found themselves in an unexpected situation when stopped by traffic police in Ipoh, Perak, who allegedly solicited a bribe of RM100.
The incident unfolded as captured in a 51-second video clip uploaded on the couple's YouTube channel and their X account. The video, shot by an onboard camera, displayed the Fishers being stopped by a traffic policeman who claimed they were driving above the speed limit. The officer informed them that the speed limit was 60km/h, while they were traveling at 70.5km/h.
Marianne, visibly surprised, apologized for not noticing the speed limit and inquired about the next steps. The officer stated that he would issue them a summons, requiring payment at the police station. However, the officer then offered an alternative, proposing a lower payment of RM100 if settled on the spot.
Marianne, seemingly caught off guard, handed over the money without the need for paperwork inspection. The officer walked away, radioing the van's registration number before leaving with the cash folded in his palm.
Chris later narrated the aftermath of the incident in a 30-minute vlog, expressing uncertainty about whether they were genuinely speeding or if the opportunity to pay a lower amount on the spot was a favorable choice.

In response to the video, Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri, the director of Bukit Aman Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department, stated that the police were made aware of the incident and had initiated an investigation.
