Tragedy struck at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) as a police auxiliary officer was discovered dead with a gunshot wound to the head in a rest area.
The distressing incident took place at approximately 9:30 AM. The victim, a 42-year-old male, was found by a colleague, covered in blood.

Medical professionals from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (HQE) confirmed the officer's passing around 10 AM. Reportedly, the victim was found slumped in a reclining chair, with bloodstains on his head.
Senior Assistant Commissioner Azmi Abd Rahim, the Chief of the Sabah Criminal Investigation Department, verified the incident when approached at the scene.
"The victim's body has been taken to the HQE Forensic Unit for further procedures. This case remains under police investigation," he stated.
