In a tragic incident, a man has lost his life, and concerns rise for the safety of four others who are feared to be buried alive after all were trapped in a landslide at Batu 54, Blue Valley, Cameron Highlands early this morning on the 26th January.
The Assistant Director of Operations for the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) in Pahang, Ismail Abdul Ghani, reported that they were notified of the incident at 2:51 AM, and the search and rescue (SAR) operation is currently in progress, as of the time of writing.
"Based on initial information, three adult men and one adult woman are still within the landslide area," he conveyed in a statement today.
Ismail explained that nine fire department personnel, mobilized to the scene, are required to traverse approximately three kilometers on foot to reach the location.
As of now, the identities of the victims involved remain unknown.
We sincerely hope the victims will be retrieved soon and we extend condolences to the victim who lost his life.
