David Beckham, the legendary English footballer and co-owner of Inter Miami CF, greeted Chinese netizens on the third day of the Lunar New Year (February 12) by posting a New Year's video on Weibo, wishing them a healthy and joyful Year of the Dragon.
In his Weibo post, Beckham wrote in both Chinese and English, extending his wishes: "Wishing everyone a healthy and happy Year of the Dragon, and joyful moments with family and friends."
Furthermore, in the video, Beckham spoke a few words in Chinese, saying "Happy Spring Festival," before proceeding to take a bite of noodles with chopsticks.
Some comments have interpreted this gesture as a goodwill move from the heartthrob to show appreciation to his vast Chinese fan base, perhaps in an attempt to appease any resentment caused by the absence of Lionel Messi in recent events.
