MELAKA - About 200 residents in an apartment at Gajah Berang here faced an anxious moment when two Africans in a quarrel started attacking each other using axes and machetes, causing injuries, this morning.
In the incident at about 10.30am, the two suspects who are believed to be students of a private university, however, disappeared after the incident.
According to a witness, who is also a parking attendant known as Yan, 41, they were shocked after seeing the suspects come down from the second floor of the apartment in a blood-stained condition carrying an ax and a machete each.
"I saw them with their bodies covered in blood, shouting at each other while holding axes and machetes."
"The fight lasted for 10 minutes before one of them left the location in a Proton Persona with a woman believed to be his wife," he said.
He added that the other suspect was also seen riding off in another car waiting for him outside the apartment.
He said one of the suspects had been renting a unit in the apartment for the past seven months with his wife.
It is understood that the fight was due to financial problems.
The police found traces of blood along the sidewalk of the apartment and the collection of evidence is being done by the forensic team of the Melaka contingent.
Meanwhile, Melaka Tengah Deputy Chief of Police, Superintendent Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz when contacted confirmed the incident and further investigations are being carried out.
