According to Sinchew, Director General of Health, Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said that Malaysia is in the final phase of recovery.

He said that if the newly confirmed cases are maintained at single-digit for more than a week, the economic, social, and educational fields might be 100% reopened.

He said that our Movement Control Order which started on March 18 has been successfully contained the spread of Covid-19.

According to New Straits Times

"Before the MCO, RO was 3.55, meaning one person could infect 3.55 people. When we implement the MCO, we reduced the R0 to 0.6 and now (during the CMCO), the R0 is 0.3."

"It means that an infected person can only infect 0.3 people, so it is decreasing. Right now, we are in the final stages of recovery," he said during an exclusive interview with Bernama.

R0 is a mathematical term that helps to understand that if the RO value is less than 1, meaning the outbreak of the diseases will be ended.

Ministry of Health will continue to monitor the country's pandemic during the implementation of the CMCO that will end on June 9.

"If the number of new cases can be maintained at a one-digit number for more than a week, then it is likely that 100 percent of the economic sector can be opened, as well as the social and educational sectors," he said.

"This means that CMCO is a success. Even with the MCO we had managed to flatten the curve."

"Success is possible not only because of what the Health Ministry and the government has done but also because Malaysians adhere to the SOP," he said.

The situation will be under control if the people follow the rules and comply to the S.O.P.

"Maybe there will be an increase in cases, but not a drastic increase. If the people follow the SOP, we might not get the third wave."

"If the number of cases is maintained at two digits or one figure, the CMCO period will end on June 9. We'll see how things go," he said.
