A puzzling medical case involving a Vietnamese man experiencing severe headaches and vision loss for five months was resolved after doctors discovered a pair of chopsticks lodged in his skull, as reported by Oddity Central.
The unidentified man's situation prompted admission to the Cuba Friendship Hospital in Dong Hoi city, Quang Binh province, due to his complaints of persistent headaches, vision impairment, and fluid discharge from his nose.
Upon conducting a computerized tomography (CT) scan, medical professionals identified two foreign objects protruding from the man's nasal cavity into his brain, which were later identified as chopsticks.
The man himself was unaware of the cause, although he revealed that the chopsticks had been inside his skull for the duration of his five-month ordeal. He attributed their presence to an incident during a bar brawl that led to his hospitalization but had no memory of someone inserting them into his skull.
While doctors suspected that another individual may have been involved in inserting the chopsticks, the man had no recollection of such an event.
Following careful evaluation, the medical team opted for an endoscopic surgery conducted through the nasal passage. Successfully removing the broken pair of chopsticks, the procedure alleviated the man's predicament.
Dr. Nguyen Van Man, the Head of the Neurosurgery Department at the hospital, confirmed the stability of the 35-year-old man's condition. He was subsequently discharged after a full recovery from this unusual and puzzling medical ordeal.
