Marang: Police arrested a Myanmar man after he was believed to have raped a 14-year-old girl.
The 30-year-old suspect was arrested at a house under construction in the district at about 2.10pm this afternoon.
Marang District Police Chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Zain Mat Dris said the arrest of the suspect was made following a report received about him from the victim's family on Sunday.
He said, as a result of the initial interrogation, the suspect admitted to raping the victim and further examination of the suspect's mobile phone also found some nude pictures suspected to be pictures of the teenage girl.
Preliminary investigations found the suspect had no previous criminal record other than being free from drug influence.
"The suspect is currently detained for further investigation under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape," he said when contacted, here, today.
