Good news to all travelers! I believe that many flights or scheduled travel plans have been affected by the Wuhan Coronavirus. If you’re one of them and you happened to be an AirAsia loyal guest, then here is some good news to you! Make sure you take note of this information.
According to AirAsia’s newsroom, AirAsia is extending the time frame to get a credit account or even full refund for guests with a flight booking to or from China, Hong Kong, and Macao. The period will be extended until 1 March 2020. Also, all AirAsia flights to and from Wuhan will still be suspended until 29th February 2020.
However, some locations within AirAsia’s flight network have enforced travel bans for travelers based on their nationalities, cities, travel history or the reason for traveling. Customers are suggested to verify with respective officials or ambassadors prior to travel.
For those who are eligible to claim their refund, affected by the flight changes or wish to alter their flight information, here is a list of options that are made available by AirAsia:
1. Move Flight
You may now move your flight date to a new travel date on the same route within 30 calendar days from the original flight time without having to pay extra. However, this is subject to seat availability. This option is applicable for customers who are affected by canceled flights (except flights to or from Wuhan) and travel restrictions will be enforced.
2. Credit account
You may keep the value of your fare in your AirAsia BIG Loyalty account, for future trips with AirAsia. Within 90 calendar days from the issuance date for your trip, the online credit account could be redeemed for booking. As long as the flight schedule of AirAsia is out, you may book your travel dates even after the expiry date. This option is applicable to all flights to or from China, Hong Kong, and Macao until 1 March 2020 (or 29 February 2020 for flights to or from Wuhan ONLY) that was issued prior to 28 January 2020.
3. Full refund
Get a full refund for your flight ticket or flight booking. This option is eligible for all flights to or from China, Hong Kong, and Macao until 1 March 2020 that was issued prior to 28 January 2020.
So, if you’re one of the guests whose flights fall into the above mentioned period, you may get a full refund in the amount as to the booking in the form of original payment.
You may request for your refund with AVA at support.airasia.com. Search for “Refund” from the main menu categories that are available. Click on “New Refund Request” then “AirAsia flight to/from Wuhan” and look for your booked flight OR “China Voluntary Refund” for flights to or from China locations, including Hong Kong and Macao. You will be guided by AVA’s instructions from there.
