BUTTERWORTH: A man was indicted in Sessions Court, here, today, on four counts of carnal intercourse against the order of nature, rape and robbery against a Myanmar woman last October 12.
The accused, Zul Mazuan Zul Hilman @ Suresh Kumar, 25, pleaded not guilty and asked to be tried after making the confession before Judge Nor Aini Yusof.
According to the first charge, Zul Mazuan was accused to have forced oral sex on a Myanmar woman and was accused of robbing a sum of RM200 by using a knife against the same victim.
The accused was also charged with raping the foreign woman by placing a knife on the victim's neck and all the allegations were made at a house at No 14, Tingkat Kikik 2, Taman Inderawasih in Perai, near here, at 4am on October 12.
Zul Mazuan was charged with committing the offense under Section 377B, Section 392/397 and Section 376 (2) (b) of the Penal Code.
Section 377B of the Penal Code provides for imprisonment for up to 20 years and whipping if convicted, followed by Section 392/397 which provides for a maximum imprisonment of 14 years, fine and whipping while Section 392 can be imprisoned for up to 14 years and fine or whipping if convicted.
Apart from that, the man was also accused of robbing RM200 and was charged under Section 392 of the Penal Code involving the victim, a local woman.
The offense was allegedly committed at Medan Kikik 1, Taman Inderawasih in Prai, near here on October 9, at about 5.15am.
Deputy Public Prosecutors Aisyah Al Humayrah Kamarulzaman and Nur Fazliyana Ahmad applied to the court not to grant any bail to the accused.
However, the lawyer representing the accused asked the court to allow his client to be granted bail by informing that the accused's father was the surety.
Nor Aini then allowed the accused bail totaling RM50,000 with one surety against the four charges, apart from stipulating that he could not harass the victim and witnesses until the trial of the case was completed.
The court also set November 29 as the re -mention date for the case.
