As featured in Astro Awani and The Edge Market, Murali Prasad, who is the country lead of the US State Department’s Global Innovation Through Science and Technology (GIST) movement, has collaborated with and supported by a few universities in Malaysia to help to mobilize multiple free hand sanitizer production facilities in university laboratories across Malaysia. The prime objective of this project is to help the country contain the spread of COVID-19.

This project is estimated to have at least 15,000 hand sanitizers for free distribution to the B40, front-liners and essential service providers operating in areas surrounding the universities in phase 1. They, too, are ready to produce the WHO-recommended hand sanitizer formulations from Universiti of Malaya, Universiti Utara Malaysia, Universiti Malaysia Perlis, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, Universiti Putra Malaysia, and Universiti Malaysia Sabah!

Not forgetting to mention that this amazing initiative was supported by:
Angels in Science, UM Angels, Business Council for Sustainable Development (BCSD) Malaysia, myNADI Foundation, Malaysia Biotechnology Students’ Association (MYBIOSA), Sarawak Entrepreneurs Association (SEA), MYCorps Malaysia and generous individual volunteers.
