A 31-year-old woman from Jenjarom, Selangor, has come forward with harrowing details of alleged domestic abuse by her husband, which forced her to jump off the balcony of their two-storey home. The incident left her with multiple severe fractures and permanent scars, both physical and emotional.

During a press conference held on January 23, with the support of Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng, the woman shared her story, hoping to protect herself, her 10-year-old son, and other women suffering from similar circumstances.

According to the woman, who has been married for 10 years, the abuse escalated over time, culminating in violence against their child. This incident became the breaking point for her.

"In the 10 years since my husband and I got married, the domestic violence has become more and more serious. Now, he has hurt our child, so I can no longer tolerate it and decided to hold a press conference to expose his evil deeds," she stated.

Her decision to go public stemmed from three main concerns:

The safety of her son: She feared her child would continue to suffer harm.

Threats from her husband's connections: She revealed that her husband is allegedly well-connected and has a wide network of contacts, making her feel unsafe.

The risk of blackmail: Her husband allegedly forced her to record sexual videos and threatened to distribute them if she did not comply with his demands.

In March 2023, the woman returned to her home to collect personal belongings, but her husband reportedly locked her in a bedroom and forced her to sign a divorce agreement. The terms were unfavorable, and when she refused, her husband allegedly strangled, beat, and threatened her.

Fearing for her life, she jumped off the balcony in a desperate attempt to escape. The fall left her with fractures to her back and legs, requiring months of rehabilitation and leaving her with lasting injuries.

After the incident, she took her son to her parents' home for safety. Despite informing her husband's relatives about the abuse, no one stepped in to help. "Not only did no one come forward to seek justice, but they also protected my husband. I feel very sad," she explained.

The woman also accused her husband of bringing another woman into their home during their separation. This was discovered by their son, who walked in on the scene while retrieving his textbooks.

"My husband was naked at the time and became violent when he saw us. I reported this to the police, and my son testified against him," she said.

The woman's press conference is a plea for justice not just for herself, but for her son and other victims of domestic violence.

"To my mum and dad, don't worry about me anymore. I have decided to face everything and testify against my husband's evil deeds. I hope to get justice," she said courageously.
