The originally ijtema event of Asia 2020 that is going to held from March 19 to March 22, in Indonesia had been postponed.
According to China Press, The head of Gowa regency, Adnan Purichta Ichsan posted on his Instagram, saying that the event is to be canceled or postponed
"We did not stop communication and coordination with the core committee," he said, adding that pilgrims would be isolated while arrangements are made for them to leave Gowa, as reported in The Star.
He also mentioned that the local authorities have assigned workers to inspect and sanitize the gathering location to prevent the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Meanwhile, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Datuk Seri Panglima Hishammuddin bin Tun Hussein mentioned in Oriental Daily that, all Malaysians who have gone to Indonesia to attend this event have to be inspected and undergo self-quarantine.
He too disclosed that he has received many inquiries regarding the event, concerns pertaining to that event when it has been told that there were Malaysians present at the event.
He stressed that according to the Restricted Movement Order, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs believes that all people returning to Malaysia from overseas must undergo a health check and undergo 14-day self-isolation.
