In a heartwarming gesture, a teacher from SMK Wakaf Bharu surprised everyone by presenting an Umrah package to a Form Two student on the day of his retirement. The lucky student, Mohd Danial Hakim Faiz Teng, 14, was visibly moved when he won the grand prize in a lucky draw held during the retirement ceremony.
Mohd Danial Hakim, who hails from Kampung Padang Rokma, expressed his disbelief at winning the coveted prize, especially considering the anticipation of 800 students participating in the draw. The opportunity to visit the holy land of Mecca is a dream come true for the eldest of two siblings who has never traveled far or been on an airplane.
"I have never traveled far, and I've never been on an airplane. Alhamdulillah, it feels like I'm dreaming," he shared with reporters.
The touching moment didn't end there, as Mohd Danial couldn't wait to share the good news with his mother, Norhidayu Zulkifli, 38, who is a person with disabilities (OKU) and a single mother.
