A recent viral video showing a confrontation between a food truck vendor's passengers and JPJ officers has sparked controversy and raised concerns among the public.
The Kedah Land Transport Department confirmed the incident occurred in Sungai Petani last year, although they did not anticipate the video's sudden circulation. Anas, the department's public relations officer, clarified that the incident's resurfacing would not adversely affect the department's morale.
The footage depicts a JPJ vehicle attempting to stop a food truck, sounding sirens and issuing instructions, which were ignored by the driver. The food truck continued moving and entered a gated residential area.
Subsequently, the law enforcement vehicle pursued the food truck, which came to a halt at a residential house. Upon exiting the vehicle, one of the passengers directly assaulted the law enforcement officer filming the incident on a mobile phone, resulting in the officer dropping the phone onto the road. The confrontation escalated audibly, with exchanges of heated words between the parties involved.
