This tragedy happened in Butterworth, Penang. A woman who was believed to be drunk while driving at Km13 of the Butterworth Outer Ring Road (BORR), heading to Sungai Dua, killed two youths who were on a motorcycle when both vehicles were involved in a rear-ended collision.
According to New Straits Time, the passengers were identified as Muhamad Syaiful Hilmi Rosidi and Muhammad Amin Nahmi Azaman, aged 21 and 19 years old respectively. Both riders died on the spot in this 2.30 am accident.
It is explained in the news that the 47-year-old Toyota Vios driver is a health product salesperson and she was on her way to her mother’s house, which is located in Kepala Batas. The driver was believed to have had a karaoke night out when the collision happened.
Noorzainy Mohd Noor, the police chief of Seberang Perai Utara district mentioned that “when she reached the scene, she rear-ended the motorcycle, causing both victims to fall off their machine. The motorcycle also caught fire. Both victims died on the spot due to serious head and bodily injuries.”
“The driver will be detained today to further investigate this incident, while the remains of the deceased were sent to the Kepala Batas Hospital for post-mortems,” he added.
