Some people just can't seem to understand the seriousness of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. It is hard to choose between health and religion? Apparently, the answer is YES.
According to SinChew Daily, believers have enthusiastically attended a church in Indonesia, even if someone had called for the gathering to be canceled due to the outbreak. They don't seem to be concerned with the COVID-19 despite the rising number of confirmed cases in Indonesia.
It has been told that this gathering's objective was to congratulate the local new bishop and that it was held on Wednesday, 9 am.
The local authorities clarified that this gathering was carried out under strict sanitary inspection measures. The organizer has provided hand sanitizer to all attendees and has measured their body temperatures before allowing them to enter the church. This gathering was said to be attended by 1,500 believers.
The local authority further disclosed that the Manggarai regency administration and the organizer followed the agreements set by the central government. The local government too obeyed the rules and laws set by the central government to prevent the spread of COVID-19. After consideration, the authorities decided to continue to have the gathering as it had been arranged a few months ago
"The government and organizer are monitoring closely all believers who are non-locals," he added.
Although all precautionary measures had been done, is it truly okay to have such mass gathering at this critical time being?
