#SaveCBN | KL's 122-year-old school is TRENDING on Twitter NOW!
SMK Convent Bukit Nanas has been making headlines and hitting No.1 on Malaysian's Twitter (
#savecbn) for a not-so-tasteful reason!
Here's why!
ICYMI, one of the nation's oldest school, CBN -as it's fondly named- has not been granted the "land lease extension" by the Lands & Mines Department.
Since the secondary school was founded in 1899, many would assume that it would one day, be proclaimed as a national treasure. But, apparently, the school's land lease will be expiring in September 2021.
This means the KL's all-girls school will be shut down or even worse- demolished by authorities.
As of now, the fate of the alma mater of more than thousands of distinguished ladies is left hanging. It is reported that the school was granted a stay of leave with the next hearing scheduled this coming May 4th. Read more

On Twitterjaya, alumni of all generation have come in solidarity in hopes of challenging the land lease decision. Friends, family and good samaritans are also voicing out against this abrupt call by the authority.
Some of the notable figures that have graduated from CBN includes lawyer Ambiga Sreenevasan, former national gymnast Dr Farrah Hani Imran, celebrity Adibah Noor, former international trade and industry minister Rafidah Aziz & activist Ivy Josiah.
There's no doubt here that CBN has produced legends in various industries that have done the country proud! It's truly saddening to see a heritage site like this going down in flames without its due respect and honour.
Tweets of sentiments, memories and longings are being shared by everyone under
#savecbn, together with an official petition, started by an
alumnus.
As of this writing, over 11,000 citizens have taken a stand with CBN.
