Kingston Lew Yen Wei is a hardworking Penang student who is making headlines after getting accepted into one of the US's most prestigious universities, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
After putting in a lot of hard work and effort in his studies at Chung Ling Private High School, Kingston will begin his degree in Computer Science, Economics and Data Science on an almost full scholarship in August.
Before this Kingston also did his International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme at United World College in New Mexico under a scholarship from the Davis Foundation. He explained to The Star that he got quite of a culture shock when he first went there but thankfully his good command of English helped him cope with the new surroundings.
In a press conference at Komtar, Kingston talked about how happy and relieved he was to be accepted into such a great school as it was always something that he had wanted.
It is truly inspirational and heartwarming to see someone work hard and achieve their dreams. Hopefully, Kingston will inspire many young adults to also pursue their dreams and never give up.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and Deputy Chief Minister II Dr P. Ramasamy handed him an RM3,000 contribution from the Penang state government to congratulate him in hopes that this will encourage more students in Penang to keep striving for academic excellence.
Congratulations Kingston! We are so proud of you!
