You‘ve probably had canned food from one of Malaysia’s most iconic canned food brand, Ayam Brand. Not only do they always provide a large portion of ingredients with their canned foods, it can be prepared easily into a meal (or even eaten right out the can!). Ayam Brand serves a variety of foods to suit the large spectrum of Malaysian taste buds, from canned tuna and sardine, to baked beans and mushrooms, and even more. So, with MCO 2.0 going on, why not try these 5 recipes shared by none other than Ayam Brand themselves!
1. Saba Club Sandwich
Ingredients:
- 1 Ayam Brand Saba Mayonnaise
- Onion, chopped
- Cucumber, sliced
- Tomato, sliced
- Sliced Bread
Steps:
1. Heat some oil in a pan, and fry the onions for 3 minutes.
2. Mix in the saba mayonnaise evenly, then turn off the heat and let it cool.
3. Spread the saba mayonnaise onto the bread, and top off with cucumber and tomatoes.
4. Enjoy!
Simple snack can be done in less than 10 minutes, perfect for a healthy breakfast!
2. Korean Spicy Tuna
Ingredients:
- 1 Ayam Brand Tuna Flakes in Water
- Onions (half), thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon cooking oil
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
- 2 tablespoons of Gochujang (Korean hot sauce)
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon honey
Steps:
1. Stir and mix well the Gochujang, ketchup and honey.
2. Heat some oil in a pan and fry the onions until they are fragrant.
3. Add in drained tuna and cook for 1-2 minutes.
4. Add half of the mixture from Step 1 and cook for 1-2 minutes.
5. Transfer the tuna onto a bowl, then mix evenly with the rest of the mixture from Step 1.
6. Add the sauce to preferred dish (rice or pasta), garnish with sesame, and enjoy!
Korean food has never been easier! Mix it with pasta to get a Korean-Italian fusion that is simple yet healthy.
3. Tuna Tacos
Ingredients:
- 1 Ayam Brand Tuna Flakes in Water
- 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons of sour cream
- 2 tablespoons of cooking cream
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 small onion, chopped
- Coriander leaves, chopped
- 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
- Tortilla wraps
Steps:
1. In one bowl, mix mayonnaise, sour cream, and cooking cream.
2. In another bowl, mix onions, coriander leaves, and lemon juice.
3. Drain the tuna and cook it with vegetable oil in a pan on medium heat until slightly crispy.
4. Heat the tortilla wraps on another non-stick pan for 20-30 seconds.
5. Put preferred amount of cooked tuna on a tortilla wrap.
6. Spread some of the mixtures from Step 1 and Step 2, and enjoy!

4. Crispy Tuna Spring Rolls
Ingredients:
- 1 Ayam Brand Tuna Chunks in Water
- 100g bean sprouts, tails removed
- 1 carrot, grated
- 1 tablespoon coriander leaves, chopped
- 8 spring roll pastry (popiah wrap)
- cooking oil
- 3 teaspoons of oyster sauce
- some water
Steps:
1. In a bowl, mix the tuna, oyster sauce, bean sprouts and coriander leaves.
2. Place a piece of spring roll pastry on a flat surface.
3. Put the mixture from Step 1 on one end and roll the pastry, then seal it with a dab of water.
4. Heat some oil on medium heat, then cook the spring roll for 10 minutes until golden.
5. Enjoy!

5. Nasi Goreng Saba & Udang (Saba & Prawn Fried Rice)
Ingredients:
- 1 Ayam Brand Chili Saba
- White rice, cooked
- 10 to 15 medium-sized prawns
- 1 red onion, thinly sliced
- 3 cloves of garlic, thinly sliced
- 1 egg, beaten
Steps:
1. Drain the oil from the Ayam Brand Chili Saba into another bowl.
2. Mix some cooking oil with the Chili Saba oil from Step 1 in a pan.
3. Fry the onions at low heat for 1-2 minutes.
4. Add the garlic and prawns, continue cooking until prawns are cooked.
5. Add the egg and stir until egg is just cooked (but not dry).
6. Add the rice and chili saba, stir evenly.
7. Season with some salt and pepper, stir evenly, enjoy!
Fried rice is the staple for Asian households as it is the easiest complete meal to prepare, perfect for even those of us who are lazy. Uncle Roger will be proud!
