So far, a total of 52,771 people missed their COVID-19 vaccination appointment.
According to Utusan Malaysia, Kedah topped the list, whereby a total of 10,827 people missed their COVID-19 vaccination appointment.
It is followed by Pahang (10,000 people), Kelantan (10,000 people), Perak (9,009 people), Negeri Sembilan (6,323 people), Malacca (3,612 people) and Perlis (3,000 people).
Kedah Health director Dr Mohd Fikri Ujang pointed out that the reasons for the no-shows include being out of the area, having no transportation to go to the PPV, being unwell, undergoing quarantine, and not being mentally prepared to receive the vaccine jab.
There are also some people who requested to change the vaccination date at the last minute, while others refused to answer the call to confirm that they would get the vaccination as scheduled.
Health Minister Datuk Seri Adham Baba was disappointed and said that the vaccine must be used immediately once it is taken out. If it is not used, the vaccine will be wasted. He added that the government may start implementing fines and adopt mandatory vaccination to make sure the Malaysians do not skip their Covid-19 vaccination appointments.
