Malaysia Grand Bazaar (MGB), KLs first artisanal mall is set to open its doors to the public on 31 March 2022. MGB is an integral component of the urban regeneration project of Bukit Bintang City Centre (BBCC) which comprises the recently completed Lucentia Serviced Residences, The Stride Strata Office and Japanese-flavoured Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport.
MGB is spread across 100,000 sq ft of carefully curated spaces with touches of heritage architecture that houses up to 100 artisanal and authentic local brands that pay homage to the creativity and artistry of Malaysian creators and crafters.
According to BBCC Development Sdn Bhd CEO Low Thiam Chin, MGB is developed to provide a dedicated platform for artisans, micro-brands, start-ups and art entrepreneurs to scale their businesses into the physical retailing space.
Despite its prime location in Bukit Bintang, merchants of MGB will be able to enjoy easy entry packages to have their own branded store in the city centre. These include affordable rents, fully fitted lots and marketing support, amongst others.
Our vision is to become the incubator for local brands to reach out to a larger customer base by having a presence in a prime location that can attract both locals and tourists, said Low adding that MGB is a manifestation of the #sapotlokal movement which gained traction during the pandemic period.
Besides being located next to the newly opened LaLaport Mall, MGB is also neighbour to Zepp KL, a 2,500-capacity concert hall by Sony Music Entertainment Japan and the 12-screen Golden Screen Cinemas, thus ensuring a healthy footfall for this new artsy attraction in town.
Visitors to MGB can look forward to appreciating the best and unique creations in various categories such as clothing, arts and crafts items, jewellery and accessories, home decorative and local snacks.
As an additional perk, our permanent merchants will have the chance to export their products to the international markets through the Malaysia Grand Bazaar e-commerce store on marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, Etsy and Shopify, added Low.
The Malaysia Grand Bazaar export store effectively helps our merchants to pivot onto the global e-commerce space and provides an additional retail channel to boost their income flow.
Ultimately we want to offer a truly omnichannel solution to our merchants by combining the best of physical and online retailing but focusing on the huge potential of the US market, stressed Low.
Apart from supporting home-grown brands, visitors to MGB will also be able to appreciate various visual art masterpieces and instagrammable spots adorning the corners of this cultural hub. Everything from inspirational Malaysian-themed murals to graffiti and doodle art is here for everyone to admire.
MGB also boasts a 4,000 sq ft double volume centre court which aims to host regular thematic events, cultural performances and community activities to create constant engagement and experiential retailing focus for its visitors.
We have strived to curate a collection of authentic Made in Malaysia brands and products that will give visitors a fresh appreciation for the creativity, originality and entrepreneurship of Malaysian small businesses, reiterated Low.
