Based on a Facebook post by Polis Daerah Batu Gajah, a police dog named Chulio from the Perak Contingent Police Headquarters was awarded not only a "Jasamu Dikenang" medal but also a bag of kibbles for successfully locating the body of a missing elderly man last month.
Chulio was given the award on the 31st of May 2022, by the Batu Gajah district police chief ACP Mohamad Roy Suhaimi Sarif at a ceremony. Its trainer Corporal Tony Matius Farang received the award on behalf of Chulio.
According to Harian Metro, the senior citizen went missing for 3 days near the palm oil plantation in Teronoh. The operation to find the elderly man started at 10am and Chulio managed to find the body in 30 minutes. The elderly man drowned in a swamp near the area.
Chulio is an expert at detecting corpses and if given daily training according to his trainer. This is Chulio's second-biggest achievement, its first being in April when it successfully found the body of a hiker who was buried under 1.5m of earth in Tanah Rata, Cameron Highlands.
Chulio was brought in from the UK 5 years ago and since then, he has taken part in over 50 operations.
Kudos, Chulio! You're a GOOD BOY!
