Lorry Driver Arrested After Causing Major 11-Vehicle Accident In Putrajaya That Killed Two Road Users

A tragic accident unfolded in Putrajaya today when a lorry, reportedly changing lanes abruptly from the middle to the left, collided with 11 vehicles, including a police motorcycle escort. The devastating incident claimed the lives of two individuals.


According to Assistant Commissioner A. Asmadi Abdul Aziz, the Putrajaya District Police Chief, the preliminary investigation suggests that the accident occurred at approximately 10:14 a.m. Surveillance footage from the closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras positioned along the route towards Puchong, near the Persiaran Timur exit, indicates that a lorry approaching from behind may have abruptly switched lanes, resulting in a collision with several stationary vehicles at the scene.


Tragically, the impact of the collision led to the fatalities of two individuals, including the motorcycle rider. Additionally, several others sustained injuries during the accident.

The lorry driver responsible for the collision has been apprehended by the police to facilitate further investigations. Authorities have initiated a urine screening test for the detained driver to determine the necessary course of action. Meanwhile, individuals injured in the accident have been promptly transported to Putrajaya Hospital and Serdang Hospital for immediate medical attention.
