Sometimes when scrolling through Shopee, I accidently come across these fancy makeup brush sets that are super fancy with leather casing and brush made from angel hair and I sadly glance at my 5 makeup brushes and think, hmm maybe I should spend this inappropriate amount of money on these 16 brushes.
But, as I am adding it to my cart, I hear the voices of my 5 brushes calling out to me, asking me “Aren’t we enough?” So, I think to myself at the end of the day, those 5 brushes are actually enough to turn my face from looking like a naked mole rat to an actual Disney Princess, so I don’t really need all the other brushes.

So, I decided to take a look at all the 16 makeup brushes in existence and find out what their actual uses are in order to find out if I actually really need them all.
Here’s a list of makeup brushes and their uses:
1. Concealer Brush
Used for concealer under the eyes and also for cream eye shadow.
2. Brow Brush
Used to define and fill in your brows and to apply gel eyeliner.
3. Blending Brush
Used to apply eyeshadow in your crease and for blending out shadow.
4. Crease Brush
This is an angled blending brush that does the same thing a blending brush does.
5. Pencil Brush
Used to create soft and smokey shadow look and to wear eyeliner and eyeshadow on the bottom of your lashes.
6. Flat Eyeshadow Brush
This is one of the brushes you really need! It creates a smooth base for any eyeshadow application.
7. Flat Eyeliner Brush
Used to apply eyeliner.
8. Lip Brush
Completely unnecessary but if you really want it then it is used to apply lipstick.
9. Foundation Brush
If you like using brushes to put on your foundation, then you should get one of these.
10. Stippling Brush
Can be used to apply foundation, blush, bronzer, powder, and highlighters. I mean if it can apply that many products, I might as well just get it!
11. Lash & Brow Spoolie Brush
For taming brows and declumping mascara
12 – 16. Powder, Bronzer, Blush, Contour, Highlight Brushes
Why would anyone need these separate brushes when you can just use one stippling brush for all of the products listed above?????
