61yo Man In Perak Fatally Slashed Elderly Couple With A "Sabit" Over Family Asset Distribution Dispute At Manjung Palm Estate

In a tragic incident at an oil palm plantation in Kampung Cina, Pantai Remis, a 61-year-old man is suspected of brutally killing a married couple, both 74 years old, using a 'sabit'. The suspect, identified as the uncle of the male victim, allegedly engaged in this violent act during a dispute over property. The shocking event unfolded yesterday evening, prompting an urgent response from law enforcement.


Manjung District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohamed Nordin Abdullah, reported that the husband and wife succumbed to severe injuries inflicted on their heads and faces. The police were alerted to the incident through a report received at 3:30 PM, initiating swift investigative actions.

Preliminary findings suggest that the dispute, likely related to property matters, escalated into a physical altercation involving the 61-year-old suspect and the elderly couple. The lifeless bodies of the victims were discovered within the confines of the oil palm plantation and subsequently transported to the Forensic Unit of Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) Ipoh for post-mortem examination.

In response to the heinous crime, the police promptly apprehended the suspect. The 61-year-old individual will face legal proceedings, with a scheduled appearance at the Seri Manjung Magistrate's Court for a remand application tomorrow. The case is currently under investigation pursuant to Section 302 of the Penal Code, pertaining to murder.
