A young Malaysian emcee named Ada has taken the internet by storm with her extraordinary ability to host events in multiple languages effortlessly. In a viral video uploaded to XiaoHongShu last Monday (Jan 6), Ada showcased her linguistic versatility by flawlessly explaining an event rundown in Cantonese, transitioning to English, and wrapping up in Mandarinall in one seamless flow.
The video quickly gained traction, amassing over 9,000 likes and drawing widespread praise from netizens for Ada's impressive command of languages and her ability to cater to diverse audiences.
According to WeirdKaya, Ada revealed that she began her emceeing career in late 2022. However, her career gained significant momentum in 2023, opening doors to more opportunities.
"Being multilingual has been a game-changer for me," Ada shared. "It's a skill that allows me to connect with a wide range of people, ensuring no one feels left out at events."
Ada's primary language is Mandarin, but she is also fluent in Cantonese and English, with a basic understanding of Hokkien.
"Cantonese and English have opened up new markets for me. I've even been approached to host weddings in these languages, making the events more inclusive for all guests," she said.
While her proficiency in Hokkien is still developing, Ada uses it sparingly to add a fun and lively touch to events.
Reflecting on the viral video, Ada expressed her surprise at the overwhelming response. "I didn't expect such attention. I recorded it casually as content," she explained. "That day, the client mentioned that most guests understood Cantonese, some needed English, and others preferred Mandarin, so I incorporated all three languages."
Ada's multilingualism also highlights Malaysia's unique cultural tapestry, something she takes immense pride in representing.
"The positive comments I received on Xiaohongshu reflect the beauty of Malaysia a country rich in cultural exchange and filled with positive energy," she said. "Every time I host in multiple languages, I feel proud to showcase this remarkable aspect of our nation."
