AMPANG – Hallucinations due to drug use is believed to be the cause of a man getting upset and threatening to kill his niece in an incident at a house in Taman Tasik Tambahan, here early this morning.
However, the 22-year-old and unemployed man was arrested by the police after receiving a report from the victim who works as a saleswoman.
Ampang Jaya District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the incident happened at about 2.45 am when the 17-year-old woman (victim) and her family were at home when the suspect, who was her uncle, approached her.
"The suspect entered the house from the living room and looked at the victim's sister while asking her what her problem was.
"The suspect then went to the kitchen to take a knife and rushed towards the victim and pointed the knife at her while threatening to kill her," he said in a statement today.
According to him, upon receiving the information, the police rushed to the scene and managed to arrest the suspect, including seizing a silver knife used during the incident.
He said a review found that the cause of the fight is believed to be because the suspect was in a state of hallucination due to the influence of drugs.
"The results of the urine screening test found that the suspect who is still single and had lost his parents was positive for syabu and was remanded for four days until this Thursday.
"This is the second incident where the suspect was previously charged under Section 506 of the Penal Code (KK) for threatening to kill the victim last August and was sentenced to three months in prison," he said.
He said the case was investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for the offense of criminal intimidation and Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act (ADB) 1952, which is to inject drugs into the body.
