ICYMI: 'Pontianak' Sighted At Johor Bahru Immigration Complex
Having an experience with a bed-ridden special needs child has inspired a father to offer free ice cream to people with disabilities (PwDs).
Social media influencer, Meilo Ais (Rui Mei) spotted the ice cream seller, known as 'Abang Ais Krim', selling the frozen dessert at a seaside picnic spot in Bagan Ajam, Penang recently and posted the encounter on TikTok.
The video went viral and has so far garnered over 2.6 million views.
In the short interview, 'Abang Ais Krim' told her that being the sole breadwinner of the family, he took on the ice-cream selling gig on a part-time basis to earn extra income.
"Saya kerja keretapi punya (I work at the train station)", he said about his main job.
"Our disabled child has passed away, now I have a newborn in my family," he added.
Having heard this, Meilo Ais decided to buy 50 cups of ice cream, costing RM170, from 'Abang Ais Krim' and distributed them to all the picnic goers in the area.
As expected, children were jumping with joy upon getting the free ice cream that day.
Apparently, from the comments, 'Abang Ais Krim' was quite famous at the Bagan Ajam picnic spot.
A TikTok user, Dot, said that the man was known for being generous when selling his ice cream.
"His ice cream is inexpensive! When I declined the nuts (the other day), he gave me an extra scoop instead," said the TikTok user.
Another user, mamairsaleena, said she could feel 'Abang Ais Krim' holding back his emotions when talking about his special needs child.
"His voice was 'shaking' (bergetar)... a father speaking about his special child," she said.
TikTok user, rupa_tanpa_wajah83, said he respected a man who worked hard to provide a decent life for his family.
"May he be blessed," he said.
