A woman in Melaka attempted to flee with a valuable RM29,000 gold bar from a local gold shop but has been thwarted. The 25-year-old suspect was taken into custody by a group of officers from the Crime Investigation Department (D4) at the Central Melaka District Police Headquarters.
The incident unfolded at her residence in Taman Malim Jaya at 6:45 PM. Central Melaka District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit, revealed that the case originated from a police report submitted by the 45-year-old gold shop manager.
According to the report, the suspect had visited the shop at around 4:30 PM on October 30th. Initially, she posed as a customer and requested to examine a 100-gram, 999 gold bar. After handling the precious metal for approximately three minutes, she made a hasty exit with the gold bar in hand, fleeing in a Nissan Livina car that already had two passengers inside.
After a dedicated week of investigation and information gathering, the authorities successfully tracked down the woman, who eventually admitted to the crime.
