Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has just announced that the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) will end this coming Tuesday (June 9). Starting June 10, Malaysia will be entering a recovery phase, in which a Perintah Kawalan Pengerakan Pemulihan (Recovery Movement Control Order, RMCO) with more lenient restrictions will be implemented until August 31 .
INTERSTATE TRAVEL ALLOWED
Under the RMCO, the interstate travel ban is finally lifted and schools will reopen in stages.
“Those who wish to visit their parents who are far away, you can do that now,” the PM said during a special televised address today, adding that they should also keep in mind that their aged parents are in the high-risk group and that they should do their best to protect them from being infected.
The recovery phase is part of the exit strategy as COVID-19 in Malaysia is contained now, according to Muhyiddin.
“Most of the cases are imported cases, and those involving undocumented migrants,” he said.
SCHOOLS TO REOPEN IN STAGES
For the safety of the students, only exam classes including SPM, SVM, STPM and STPM will reopen first with strict SOPs. The Education Ministry will be announcing the guidelines soon.
The PM also urged Malaysians to download the “MySejahtera” app in order to perform health assessment on themselves and their family members during the RMCO period.
