In July of this year, Nurul Ain embarked on a venture with the help of her sister, offering resume writing services that cost a symbolic fee of RM10 each. Leveraging Instagram and TikTok for promotion, her business has witnessed a remarkable response, with demand pouring in.
Hailing from Pasir Mas, Kelantan, Nurul Ain had recently graduated from Malaysia's University of Science with a degree in education. It was during her final semester at university when she stumbled upon resume writing services while searching for part-time work, and her interest was piqued.
"I noticed that many people were offering resume writing services on social media, and I realized there was a significant demand for such services," she said during an interview with the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama).
All she needed to start her business was a laptop, a tablet, and an internet connection, with a meager fee of RM10 charged for each resume.
Within less than a month of starting her business, she received an overwhelming response, with up to 1,000 requests for resume writing in a single day, filling up her schedule.
"Never did I imagine receiving so many orders. From now on, I will limit my monthly orders to 400," she stated.
To meet this high demand, Nurul Ain now dedicates 15 hours a day to writing resumes, managing to complete 15 to 20 resumes daily.
Despite the surging demand, she remains committed to her RM10 pricing, never deviating from her initial goal of assisting job seekers.
"I know others who provide similar services charge much higher fees, even up to RM200. However, the satisfaction I get from helping others secure jobs and make a living is invaluable to me," she emphasized. "For me, the amount of money is not important; what matters most is that I can help everyone find employment, nothing else."
She revealed that her resume writing service now earns her approximately RM4,000 per month.
Most of her clients are recent graduates or individuals currently employed but seeking new opportunities. Nurul Ain also serves a segment of her clientele comprising housewives looking to re-enter the job market, many of whom are unsure about what crucial information to include in their resumes.
Furthermore, she added that even if she secures a full-time job in the future, she intends to continue offering resume writing services to assist those in need.
