When the COVID-19 pandemic swept across the globe in March 2020, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob assumed a role as the Senior Defense Minister responsible for the security cluster in Malaysia.
His involvement in controlling COVID-19 gained even more significance when he ascended to the position of the Ninth Prime Minister in August 2021. Currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Ismail Sabri chose a research topic titled 'Malaysia's Actions in Combating COVID-19.' The thesis reportedly focuses on Malaysia's comprehensive efforts in combating COVID-19.
Presenting his research proposal in the PhD Colloquium Session organized by Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Ismail Sabri highlighted Malaysia's recognition by the World Health Organization (WHO) as one of the best countries in taking action against COVID-19.
"I hope that the world can see Malaysia's experience and actions in combating Covid-19." he said in a Facebook post.
