A student from a local university suffered injuries following an alleged assault by three of his roommates at the dormitory last Sunday.
Perak Tengah District Police Chief, Superintendent Hafezul Helmi Hamzah, confirmed that the victim, an 18-year-old male, sustained injuries to his face, hands, and abdomen. He has since received medical treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.
According to Harian Metro, the incident came to light after the victim's father lodged a police report at 6:45 PM on Tuesday. This led to the arrest of three male suspects, aged between 18 and 20.
"Based on our investigation, the assault stemmed from misunderstandings and provocations between the victim and the suspects in their dormitory room," stated Superintendent Hafezul.
The suspects were initially remanded for three days to assist in the investigation but were released on police bail on Thursday.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code, which pertains to rioting. Further updates on the proceedings are awaited as authorities continue their inquiries.
