This almond Florentine brittle is quite addictive if you're nuts about nuts (no pun intended). This particular brittle has been around for quite some time. Despite it being a simple and straightforward recipe, the price that it's sold for, is quite expensive.
The almond Florentine powder is readily available in ingredient store, all you need is to mix all the ingredients and WAIT!
So why not try making this yourself?
INGREDIENTS:
100g almond Florentine (powder), 120g almond flakes, 40g sunflower seeds, 1 tablespoon black sesame seeds, 1 tablespoon white sesame seeds, 1/2 teaspoon salt
PREPARATION:
1. Preheat oven to 180 degree celsius. Line a 13'' baking tray with parchment paper.
2. In a bowl, mix the powder, almond flakes, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds and salt together. Note: Mix this as fast to prevent the almond Florentine powder from "melting" due to its sugary content.
3. Pour the mixture into the baking tray. With a spatula, gently flatten out the mixture, ensuring that the ingredients are well distributed throughout the tray ie the flakes and seeds are proportionately strewn across, they're not in clumps. Also, ensure that they're not too thin/thick in certain areas of the tray.
4. Flatten the surface of the brittle before you place them into the oven. Bake for 8-10 minutes until golden brown at 180 degree celsius. Each oven differs so do keep an eye.
5. Got to act swift for this step! With a pizza cutter or a knife, while it is hot, cut the brittle into bite-sized.
These brittle can be stored in airtight container up to 1 month but it's best to enjoy while it's fresh.
There's different take on this brittle, you can also dip it in chocolate to turn it into a chocolate coated brittle. Basically, it's a versatile recipe - you can add various nuts that you favour.
Your CNY cookie corner will thank you for this addition!
