A senior citizen in Johor became the victim of a violent robbery when she was tasered and had her handbag stolen right outside her house in Taman Skudai Baru.
According to an official statement from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) in Johor, the incident took place on the evening of January 28, Chinese New Year's Eve. Authorities received a report from the elderly victim at approximately 8:06 PM.
Investigations revealed that three suspects, riding on two motorcycles, approached the woman while she was outside her home. One of them brandished a weaponbelieved to be a taserand attempted to snatch her handbag. A struggle ensued, causing the victim to fall to the ground. The suspects managed to escape, leaving the woman injured and robbed of RM1,500.
Following the attack, PDRM classified the case under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code, which pertain to armed robbery involving multiple individuals. Additionally, it is being investigated under Section 6(1) of the Explosive Corrosive Substances and Dangerous Weapons Act 1958.
The victim sustained minor injuries to her head but was fortunate to escape more severe harm. In light of the incident, PDRM has urged the public to be cautious when carrying valuables in public and to remain alert to their surroundings to prevent similar crimes.
