In a concerted effort, firefighters and police in Sandakan are currently engaged in a rescue operation to bring down a 39-year-old man, believed to be mentally ill, who has been on the roof of a four-story public housing block since Monday. The prolonged incident has sparked concerns among residents, given the man's lack of response to pleas for a safe rescue.
The Sabah Fire and Rescue Department issued a statement, revealing that the incident was reported around 8:45 PM on Monday. Subsequently, the Sandakan Fire and Rescue Station received an emergency call at 10:58 PM on the same day. The rescue team, with the support of the man's family, is actively working to persuade him to come down. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
