The Terengganu government has received a call to take more assertive steps in reinforcing Tourism Guidelines, particularly concerning Muslim tourists. Zuraida Md Noor, a state assemblyman for Ladang, emphasized the need for these measures due to recent violations of the dress code by Muslim female tourists.
Instances of tourists wearing revealing attire like shorts and singlets without headscarves in public places were reported, contravening the Tourism Guidelines that mandate modest clothing to cover their aurat.
Zuraida expressed concern about this trend and suggested that either some tourists were unaware of the state government's guidelines, or they deliberately ignored them due to perceived lax enforcement. During a debate session at the Terengganu State Legislative Assembly, she proposed rigorous syariah-compliant monitoring across the state, including hotels, islands, resorts, entertainment centers, and cinemas.

She emphasized that this effort aligns with the agenda of Islamic propagation and the state government's commitment to a developed, blessed, and prosperous Terengganu.
