Do you recall when Emily in "Emily in Paris" eats the best croissants in town?
Have you thought of finding comparable croissants in Klang Valley to flaunt and share on Instagram? We've put together a list of the five best croissant places in town, including traditional buttery and flaky croissants and ones with a twist.
Side note: They are all Instagram-worthy too!
1. Croisserie Artisan Bakery
This bakery, located in the Bukit Damansara neighbourhood, is a hidden gem and is well-known for its bread and pastries inspired by French and Japanese bread and cake making techniques. Croisserie serves a wide range of pastries, including Pain du Monde, Viennoiseries, Petit Gâteaux, French tarts, and more. Using high-quality imported flour is one of the secrets to the delectability of the pastries. The Beurre croissant is a must-try here, as are the Aux Amandes and Ham & Cheese croissants.
Address: No. 14, Jalan Medan Setia 2, Bukit Damansara, 50490 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur
Operating Hours: opens daily from 7.30 am 8 pm
2. Dou Dou Bakes
Since Dou Dou Bakes opened, there's been no chance of getting a seat at the cafe or even trying the crowd-pleaser as everything would be sold out by the time you arrive. That's how much attention this pastry shop has gotten.
Dou Dou Bakes is famous for their Signature Sourdough Croissants, which are perfectly light and flaky. Dou Dou Bakes' sourdough is made with organic flour that has been slowly fermented for 36 hours before being baked hot on stone for an hour. In addition, their croissant is laminated with French lactic fermented butter. Aside from that, the Turkey and Ham Croissant feels like a hearty meal, especially when paired with a nice hot cup of coffee.
Address: 38, Jalan SS 4c/5, Taman Rasa Sayang, 47301 Petaling Jaya, Selangor
Operating Hours: 7.30am - 6pm (Sundays - Wednesdays), 7.30am - 11pm (Thursdays - Saturdays)
3. Hazukido
Hazukido's croissants are made with fine European butter, imported Japanese flour, and ISO-quality eggs. For the uninformed, the brand is a well-known Taiwanese bakery renowned for its decadent croissants, with several outlets located throughout Klang Valley.
Fluffy, buttery, and everything nice! The croissant selection is indescribable, with over 15 varieties to choose from and new flavours introduced every month. From classics to Caramel Almond Cream croissants, Salted Egg croissants, and more, there's just something for everyone.
Address: G1.121A, Jalan PJS 11/15, Sunway City, 47500 Petaling Jaya, Selangor
Operating Hours: opens daily from 10 am - 10 pm
4. Orito KL
I like my croissant like my French friends. Flaky on the outside, soft and gooey on the inside.
It may not be the most authentic French pâtisserie, but Orito is quickly becoming popular among locals thanks to its handmade pastries, which can be seen on Instagram. The most popular croissants are the Ham & Cheese, the Almond, and, of course, the Classic. It's also a lovely place to spend quality with your loved ones during brunch or tea time.
Address: Plaza Damas, B-0-5, 3, Jalan Sri Hartamas 1, 50480 Kuala Lumpur
Operating Hours: opens daily from 10 am 6 pm, closed on Mondays
5. Sphere Patisserie
Clearly, you've heard the expression "a croissant a day keeps the blues away." This patisserie serves artisan cakes and pastries, but their highlight has to be their croissants, which look like a work of art. Sphere offers three croissants in each of their savoury and sweet boxes. There are three flavours for the Sweet Croissant Box: Lychee Rose, Matcha Pistachio, and Earl Grey Yuzu. The Savoury Croissant Box includes Eggy Salmon, Truffle Mushroom, and Garlic Double Cheese.
Address: Tower E, Eko Cheras Serviced Residence , Jalan Cheras Batu 5, Cheras, 56000 Cheras, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur
