In the early hours of the morning, a dramatic confrontation unfolded at a restaurant in Banting, leaving both a young man and his girlfriend injured. The incident, which occurred at 1:30 AM, saw a young man taking a stand against a group of intoxicated men who were harassing his girlfriend.
The confrontation quickly escalated, with bystanders capturing the events on camera in four separate videos. These videos, ranging from 10 to 57 seconds in duration, depict the intensity of the altercation, which even spilled onto a nearby road.
Superintendent Ahmad Ridhwan Mohd. Nor @ Saleh, the District Police Chief of Kuala Langat, reported that the police were alerted to the incident at around 1:15 PM. In response, the authorities swiftly apprehended seven individuals, aged between 19 and 35 years, in the Banting area. The arrests occurred between 4:50 PM and 9:45 PM on the same day.
Interestingly, a background check on four of the suspects revealed prior criminal records associated with both criminal activities and drug-related offenses. However, subsequent urine tests conducted on all seven suspects returned negative results.
Preliminary investigations into the incident suggest that the confrontation stemmed from the victim's dissatisfaction with the harassment his girlfriend endured at the hands of the group of suspects. This dissatisfaction ultimately led to the heated altercation that unfolded at the restaurant.
To assist in the ongoing investigation, all suspects are currently remanded for three days. The case is being examined under Section 148 of the Penal Code.
