Yeo Yann Yann, a brilliant Malaysian actress, is ecstatic following her once-in-a-lifetime trip to Washington, DC's The White House. In the US, the actress is currently advertising the new comedy series American Born Chinese.
The US President Joe Biden attended the celebration of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, which featured a screening of the series adaptation of the 2006 graphic novel by American cartoonist Gene Luen Yang. Yeo and Singaporean actor Chin Han, who is residing in the US, play an immigrant couple who have a young kid who becomes involved in a conflict between Chinese gods in the drama American Born Chinese.
Yeo, who was honoured with the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress prizes at the Taiwanese Golden Horse Awards for her roles in the Singaporean films Wet Season (2019) and Ilo Ilo (2013), respectively, expressed her enthusiasm for the White House visit and referred to it as an unforgettable journey. The comedy was well received by the White House audience as well.
With an all-star cast that includes American actors Daniel Wu and Ke Huy Quan as well as Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh, the show debuts on Disney+ Hotstar on May 24. Quan, who took home the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his work in Everything Everywhere All At Once in March, even had the chance to make a deeply moving speech on stage at the White House.
As Yeo continues her promotion of American Born Chinese, traveling to Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York, before returning to her base in Singapore in June, we can't wait to see the magic that she and her co-stars bring to the screen.
