The incident took place within the premises of Sultan Mahmud Science Secondary School (SESMA) in Terengganu, where a 14-year-old student was not only beaten but also subjected to bullying and assault in the campus' prefect's dormitory.
The victim alleged that five senior students were responsible for the aggression, causing a ruptured eardrum in his right ear and resulting in permanent disability and hearing loss. The traumatic experience also required psychiatric treatment for the young student.
The case, which dates back to April 26, 2015, has finally reached a resolution, with the court unanimously finding the five former senior students, now 25 years old, guilty. They have been ordered to pay RM 616,634.20 in damages to the victim, who suffered permanent disability.
Wan Azliana, Chairperson of the Anti-Bullying Act Movement, emphasized that this legal outcome represents a victory for all bullying victims across Malaysia.
